390. Thomas⁸ BARBER (Benjamin B.⁷, Thomas⁶, Thomas⁵, Moses⁴, James A.³, James T.², Thomas¹) (#102) was born in Galway,, Saratoga Co.,, NY 15 MAY 1804. Thomas died 6 SEP 1842 in Springfield Twp., Williams Co., OH., at age 38.⁽⁸⁾ His body was interred SEP 1842 in Springfield Twp., Williams Co., OH.

He married Mercy Ann KEECH circa 1824 in Saratoga Co., NY. (Mercy Ann KEECH is #103.) Mercy was born 26 FEB 1806 in NY. (Additional notes for Mercy Ann KEECH⁽⁹⁾) Mercy died 30 MAR 1856 in Springfield Twp., Williams Co., OH., at age 50. Her body was interred APR 1856 in Boynton Cem., Williams Co., OH. Acording to cousin Evelyn Burgbacher Whitaker, "Mercy Ann's maiden name was Cheech or something of that or with a K." This was passed down to her in her family, she was the grt grand daughter of Eliza Ann Barber Witt. I found a Keach/Keech family in Saratoga that fits the age brackets needed. There are other Keech families in the Washington and Warren Co., counties of NY. It could also be Keuch

When Thomas was age 20 and Mercy Ann KEECH was age 19 they became the parents of Eliza Ann BARBER 15 MAR 1825 in Saratoga Co., NY. When Thomas was age 28 and Mercy Ann KEECH was age 26 they became the parents of Bradford Adalbert "John" BARBER 1832 in Saratoga Co., NY. Bradford's enlistment papers for the 10th OVC at Cleveland provides proof of Saratoga Co., as his birth place.

He was listed as a resident in the census report 1840 in Delaware Twp., Wms. Co., OH. Delaware Twp., Williams Co., OH., in 1845 changed to Defiance Co., OH It appears that Thomas brought his family to OH in Delaware Twp, of Williams Co., now Defiance Co., from Galway, Saratoga Co., NY in the area north of Delware Bend. Later he moved them to Southeast of Stryker in Springfield Twp., Williams Co., His probate papers provided info to the following: Adminstator bonds, Alonzo C. Barber (Brother), Addison Witt (son-in-law), Adna Reynolds (?). Alonzo was the adminstrator. Papers provided provisions for widow (Mercy Ann) and one young son (Bradford) for one year of meals and expenses. The 1840 Census shows Thomas Barber head of house with 2 females, and two males. I can only assume that the females were his wife Mercy Ann and dau. Eliza Ann, and that the males were a son Bradford, and a brother Alonzo C. as Alonzo did not marry Nancy Partee until 1846.
