2. JosephA RICHARD (XavierB) (#1) was born in Fonerair, France 7 MAR 1796. Joseph died 19 JUN 1884 in Stryker, Williams Co., OH, at age 88. His body was interred JUN 1884 in Archbold, Fulton Co., OH.

He married Rosann "Rose" DUDEE circa 1821 in France. (Rosann "Rose" DUDEE is #2.) Rosann was born in France. Rosann died 1847 in Robertsville, Stark Co., OH, at age unknown. Her body was interred 1847 in Stark Co., OH. Rosann immigrated to destination unknown 1831.

He was baptized 1796 in France. Joseph immigrated to destination unknown 1831. He petitioned the court to become a citizen 4 OCT 1860 in Williams Co., OH.(267) Joseph Richard was born and reared in France, where he followed the vocation of coal mining until 1831 when he immigrated with his family consisting of a wife, 2 son's one of which died on the voyage to America and a daughter. The voyage being made on a sailing vessel and being fifty five days in duration. Joseph and his family disembarked in the french city of New Orleans, whence they went to Cincinnati, OH., later to Wellsville, Columbiana Co., and finaly to Stark Co. There the family lived for about sixteen years, bring into the world four more daughters an the father being variously employed, and then in 1848, they came to Williams Co., OH. There he secured twenty acres of wild land in section 14, Springfield Twp. Clearing this place of native timber while later he purchased a place of 160 acres, and still later the adjoining 80 acres at a total cost of $1300. most of the folling been partially reclaimed and having been improved with modest bldgs. Joseph continued to be actively engaged in farming on this place until 1853 when he traded it for a 80 acre farm on brush creek in Springfield Twp., after which he sold the 80 acres and bought a farm of 40 acres adjoing the Village of Stryker where he resided until 1857 at that time he sold the 40 acres and resided with his son-in-laws John C. Chappuis and Frank Flory for a short time each. He then spent the remainder of his years with his daughter Mrs. Jane Brown (also the widow of Bradford Barber) and died at her home in Stryker. Both he and his wife were devote members of the Catholic Church.

Louise Rose RICHARD(268) (#37) was born in Haute-Saone, France 12 NOV 1827.(269) Verification for her birth came from a extract from the register of the documents from the civil office of the City of Ronchamp Dept. of Haute - Saone Louise died 13 DEC 1905 in Fulton Co., OH, at age 78. Her body was interred DEC 1905 in St. Peters Cem, Archbold, OH.. She married Joseph FLORY date unknown in Williams Co., OH. (Joseph FLORY is #424.) Joseph was born 1824 in France. Joseph was the son of Joseph FLEURY and Marie Amie FLEURY JonMarie. Joseph died 20 APR 1898 in Fulton Co., OH, at age 73. His body was interred APR 1898 in St.Peter's Cath, Archbold, OH. Louise immigrated to destination unknown 1831. Louisa was a sour puss and it is said that she was anything but a crab. Her grandchildren would relate how she wourld try to catch the kids by the neck with her cane and when no one was looking she would trip the kids with her cane also. The grand children would naturally would shy away. She undoubtly had her good points only it was a little harder to see the in the eyes of her children.

child 7 iv. Virginia E.'Lydia' RICHARD (#39) was born in Robertsville, Stark Co., OH 30 MAR 1834. Virginia died 18 JUL 1913 in Williams Co., OH, at age 79. Her body was interred JUL 1913 in St. Peters Cem, Archbold, OH.. She married John C. CHAPPUIS 18 JAN 1853 in Defiance Co., OH.. (John C. CHAPPUIS is #313.) John was born 19 DEC 1826 in France. John was the son of Nicholas CHAPPUIS and Catherine TEISEAU. John died 31 MAR 1907 in Williams Co., OH, at age 80. His body was interred APR 1907 in Boynton Cem., Williams Co., OH. child 8 v. Jane E. "Jennie" RICHARD (#3) was born in Robertsville, Stark Co., OH MAY 1835. Jane died 25 FEB 1917 in Stryker, Williams Co., OH, at age 81. Her body was interred 28 FEB 1917 in Archbold, Fulton Co., OH. She married twice. She married Bradford Alfred "John" BARBER 3 OCT 1852 in Stryker, Williams Co., OH. Taken from Wms. Co., Courthouse records. The date Oct. 3, 1852 is a Sunday. (Bradford Alfred "John" BARBER is #4.)

Bradford was born 1832 in Saratoga Co., NY. Bradford's enlistment papers for the 10th OVC at Cleveland provides proof of Saratoga Co., as his birth place. Bradford was the son of Thomas BARBER and Mercy Ann KEECH.

Bradford died 9 NOV 1864 in Andersonville, GA, at age 32. His body was interred 9 NOV 1864 in Andersonville, GA. (See Bradford Alfred "John" BARBER for the continuation of this line.) She married David Franklin BROWN 11 APR 1867 in Williams Co., OH. (David Franklin BROWN is #56.) David was born 3 JUN 1826 in Stonington, CT.(270) David was the son of Elijah BROWN and Mary A. SANDERS. David died 2 NOV 1902 in Defiance Co., OH., at age 76. His body was interred NOV 1902 in Evansport Cem., Defiance Co., OH.(271) David was divorced from Sarah CHURCH MAR 1867 in Williams Co., OH. David was divorced from Jane E. She was baptized 1835 in Stark Co., OH. She resided SE Corner of NW St. and Curtis S, in Stryker, Williams Co., OH 11 APR 1867. Jane was divorced from David Franklin BROWN 26 NOV 1883 in Williams Co., OH. Stryker, OH. Newspaper Mar. 1917 Jane E. Brown, whose maiden name was Richard, was born in Stark Co., OH., in 1835. At the age of 18 she was married to Bradford Barber and to them were five children were born. Two daughters (Mary A. Lloyd and Laura L. Brown) and one son (Isaac J. Barber) preceded her to the better land, and one son, John C. Barber of Defiance, and a daughter, Catherine A. Elliott of Toledo, are now living. Her husband enlisted as a volunteer in the civil war, was taken prisoner and died in Andersonville prison. In 1867 she married D. Frank Brown and to this union one child was born, Mrs Mertie Ogle, who resided with her mother at the time of her death, and who had devoted herself faithfully to the happiness and comfort of her aged mother for several years prior to her death. Her disposition was optimistic and cheerful. Hers had been a long journey through life, with many vicissitudes and also many pleasures, but through sunshine and shodow alike, she kept a complete mastery of self, and in sofar as lay in her power was a help to all. Her children, grandchildren, neighbors and friends keenly feel their loss, but all find comfort in the fact that every step under human control, with divine aid from life's sunrise to sunset, has been a preparation for the life beyond. She died Sunday, Feb. 25, and funeral services were held Feb. 28; interment was made in the Catholic cemetery at Archbold. Card of Thanks. According to Josephine DeHaus Barber, "Jane was a petite woman with dark complexion, dark eyes, and dark hair. She was a very meticulous house keeper."

According to Ada (Flory) Dominic "Aunt Jane was a outstanding midwife, who covered delieveries throughtout the Stryker and Archbold, OH. area, she delievered my father George Flory after riding her horse about 10 miles through a very severe thunderstorm, after being summoned by my older uncle Frank Flory, who also rode with her on horse back through the storm which also had caused high water in many locations on their journey."

Jane had Dk Brn hair; had Dk Brn eyes.

On her death certificate it listed mild senility for a few years prior to death, but I believe it may be from hardened arteries. actual cause of death was pnomonia caused by the influenza.
