He was baptized 1928 in St. John's Cath., Defiance Co., OH. When James was age 25 and Valeria Elizabeth "Val"
WAGNER was age 28 they became the parents of William James "Bill" BARBER 10 JUL 1953 in Defiance, Defiance Co., OH. When
James was age 26 and Valeria Elizabeth "Val" WAGNER was age 29 they became the parents of Louise Ann "Weeg" BARBER 19 JUL
1954 in Defiance, Defiance Co., OH. When James was age 28 and Valeria Elizabeth "Val" WAGNER was age 31 they became the
parents of David John BARBER 22 AUG 1956 in Defiance Co., OH.. When James was age 31 and Valeria Elizabeth "Val"
WAGNER was age 34 they became the parents of Jeffery Charles BARBER 26 AUG 1959 in Defiance, Defiance Co., OH. When
James was age 36 and Valeria Elizabeth "Val" WAGNER was age 39 they became the parents of Jennifer Marie BARBER 3 MAY 1964
in Defiance, Defiance Co., OH. James H. Barber was employed at Central Foundry Division of General Motors in Defiance and retired
there in July 1986. He was a part time carpenter also, and bacame a full time carpenter after his retirement at C.F.D., He is very active
in the Knights of Columbus as a 4th degree Knight. He formerly served several terms on the Ayersville Water & Sewer District as a Board
member and also served on the Church Council at St. Johns Catholic Church. He also is a Korean War Veteran. He has was a cook for the K of
C's for many years. He also is very active in the VFW. His favorite hobby was Golf. James H. Barber, 85, of Defiance, passed
away Tuesday, February 25, 2014, at CHP Defiance Area In-Patient Hospice Center. He was born in Defiance on March 22, 1928, the
son of the late Charles D. and Josephine B. (DeHaus) Barber. James was employed at Central Foundry Division of General Motors. for 35 years
retiring in 1986, where he worked in Quality Control and the Pattern Shop. He later owned and operated a Carpentry and Joinery Business.
He served overseas in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a Cook, was a member of St. John Catholic Church, served on the Church Council,
a CCD Instructor for Religious Education, a Eucharistic Lay distributor, was a Fourth Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus Council 1039,
worked as a Cook for the K of C Fish Fries, and served as a Board Member of the Ayersville Water & Sewer District. James was
married September 09, 1950, to Valeria E. (Wagner) Barber who survives. They were blessed with 63 years of marriage. He will be
greatly missed by his wife Valeria and five children, William (Pamela) Barber, of Bowling Green, OH, Louise (Gary) Van Cleef, of Marco
Island, FL, David (Deirdre) Barber, of Greenwood, PA, Jeffrey (Jane) Barber, of Defiance, and Jennifer (Greg) Cira of Highland Heights, OH.
He is also survived by 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers,
John, Thomas and Charles Barber; and a sister, Katherine Barber.
James weighed 185 pounds; was 5-feet 8-inches tall; had Gray hair.
Food Allergies such as grape skins etc. also allergic to penicillin
arthritis in left hand, especially the left thumb joints(trapezio metacarpal), EDS joint hypermobility. lot of joint noise while walking
all thru life, again most likely caused by EDS, and in later life his skin has a velvet to clear look, and it does tear easy when he falls.
hiatal hernia as well Raynauds syndrome most likely caused by EDS too!
diagnosed with prostate cancer Oct. 2002 treated with radiation implant chips
mild diabetes late in life, 70 +
lost partial vision of right eye due to placque in a blood vessel in fall of 1996, also had drooping eye lids due to EDS, and had surgery to
correct them.
uses a hearing aid, same as his Mother Josephine and Aunt Kate, and later his neice Kathleen Barber Doyle.
had low blood pressure all his life with mild syncope at times, hypotension. Probably caused by EDS type unknown
diagnosed with Parkinsons at age 84, meds did not work well to control the progress, and did require a significant dosage, possible family
history of PD and it was later revised to progressive supranuclear palsy
His hair turned gray very early in life, the same as his Mother and Grandmother, and he had hearing loss same as his mother. He also had
progressive supranuclear palsy, 84+ he had his gall bladder removed as was a lazy type or issue, most liklely a EDS related issue also
diverticulitis which is a EDS issue too he had ulcerated colitis which is a EDS issue too, and he had a foot of colon removed bruised easy
later in life translucent skin too
