CORINTH u Robert M. Barber, 94, of Main Street, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2011, at the Wesley Health Care Center in Saratoga Springs surrounded by his loving family.

Born on Feb. 20, 1917, in Saratoga Springs, he was the son of the late Harry and Susan (Rosser) Barber.

Bob attended school in Saratoga Springs.

He married Barbara Ralph on May 24, 1958 in Connecticut. The couple resided in Corinth for many years. She died Jan. 11, 2008, following 49 years of marriage.

Bob joined the U.S. Army Air Corps on March 6, 1943, serving as a sergeant during World War II in Italy, receiving several awards and medals, including the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

He was employed at the International Paper Co. in Corinth for many years and then worked as a supervisor at Katzenbach and Warren Wallpaper Co. in Waterford for several years until his retirement.

Bob enjoyed woodworking, bird watching, staying busy around the house, and visiting with his family and friends.

Besides his wife and his parents, he was also predeceased by one brother, Edward Barber and by two half-brothers, Hamilton and Bert Doney.

Survivors include four children: Dawn Bosford and her husband, Tim, of Lake Luzerne, William Barber and his wife, Patti, of Ballston Spa, Sherri Harris and her husband, Kevin, of Corinth and Robert Barber of Corinth; eight grandchildren: Scottt and Daniel Ash, Matthew Barber, Nick and Miranda Harris, and Robert, Amanda and Dylan Barber; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m., Thursday, June 16, 2011, at the Densmore Funeral Home, Inc., 7 Sherman Ave., Corinth.

Friends may call from noon to 1 p.m., at the funeral home, prior to the service. Burial with military honors will be held at Corinth Rural Cemetery.

Following the committal, friends and family are invited to the home of Sherri Harris, 115 Walnut St., Corinth for a reception.

The family suggests that memorials take the form of donations to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 3049, Syracuse, NY, 13220 or the Horace D. Washburn American Legion Post No. 533, Corinth, NY 12822
